Life is unfair.

Why do lives of good people are taken away instead of the lives of the bad ones?

My next-door-neighbor, Cikgu Salleh, who's a History teacher, passed away last night. He had been sick since late July, after drinking a glass of water in the school he's teaching at, SMK Sri Hartamas. Little did he know that the glass of water was cursed. O.O

At first, he thought that it'll just be a common cold or something. So, he went to a clinic to have a check-up. The doctor just said that it was a slight fever. He went home, took his medicine, and took a nap. Unfortunately, it went on and on, and his body got weaker day by day. Thus, he decided to pay a visit to a bomoh in September. The bomoh told him that he was cursed by someone he know and the bomoh added that it was pretty hard to cure because the curse had spread to his entire body. Plus, he had to take a few days off in a week due to his weak body. He lost his appetite and felt restless all the time.

By mid September, he told my grandma that he's going back to his hometown to get treatment. But after Hari Raya, on Sunday, 4th of October, my other neighbor told us this:

"He's admitted to Kuala Lumpur General Hospital today. He has a chance to live for another 3 days on a life support machine."

Silence erupted the entire house.

On Monday night, 13th of October, Mum told me that  he's literally skin and bones. He's in the ICU, and he only has a 30% chance of living. Almost ALL his organs in his body are not functioning anymore. Mum wanted to bring us to pay him a visit, but there were A LOT of visitors every single day, and it was PMR week. I prayed for a miracle.

The following day, I saw his pot of flower which NEVER bloom single flower since he purchased it years back, had finally bloomed a lone yellow flower. A miracle! , I thought. And seriously, I'm not kidding, a miracle happened that very afternoon. He was conscious, he recognized a few visitors who visited him and he even managed to talk a little. See how miracle works? (:

So, since his conditions were getting better, the doctors decided to discharge him out of the ICU. He was doing fine in the normal ward until... his conditions got worse last night.

He inhaled for the very last time and closed his eyes. And he's gone.

I was informed that Cikgu Salleh passed away just before I headed off to school. My grandma was pretty sad, and her eyes were filled with tears when she told me about the news. She told me,

" I did not even get to say my last goodbye to him. Now I'll no longer hear the usual 'good morning aunty' from Cikgu Salleh. He just told me to water his plants, and he said that he'll be back after Hari Raya to continue teaching after he get treatment from his kampung. He's such a good-hearted guy, why would that someone curse him? That fella should be punished by God."

She repeated this to me for the whole day, even now when I'm blogging. I know that my grandma is really sad, it's like as though she lost her best friend (which is pretty true), but friends come and go, according to Shauna.  =)

This is the reason why I had been so quiet in class since the Raya breaks. No worries. I'll get myself back together in no time.

.smun.

Standing out at my front porch, as I look to my right, there's only presence of silence and emptiness.
